Qin Chengyu's dark, deep-set eyes were close enough to draw Nian Jinsui in, like an endless universe with a mysterious, magnetic pull.
For a moment, Nian Jinsui was entranced. He couldn’t help but notice the astonishing length of Qin Chengyu’s eyelashes and the small mole on his right eyelid. That mole, which once seemed cold and indifferent, now appeared gentle and captivating.
Only when Qin Chengyu pulled back slightly, creating a sliver of space between their lips, did Nian Jinsui snap back to reality.
How could I be admiring his eyes at a time like this?
This was my first kiss!
Gone! Just like that!
Qin Chengyu sat up properly, his voice low and husky as he murmured, “I’m sorry.” His tone carried genuine remorse and apology.
“I-It’s fine…” Nian Jinsui stammered.
After all, it was his own prank that had backfired. He couldn’t exactly blame Qin Chengyu—this was a classic case of digging his own grave.
Qin Chengyu’s gaze lingered on Nian Jinsui, watching his reddening cheeks, his flustered expression, and the way his round, glistening eyes darted around in annoyance. A subtle joy rippled through Qin Chengyu, growing like widening rings on water.
“Jinsui, did I hurt you when I fell?” Qin Chengyu asked, still concerned.
“No, you didn’t,” Nian Jinsui replied, shaking his head. He sat up, brushing the snow and dirt off his gloves.
“Jinsui, have you ever kissed someone before? Was this your first kiss?” Qin Chengyu asked unexpectedly.
Nian Jinsui, flustered, snapped, “I’ve never kissed anyone before, but this doesn’t count as a kiss! At most, our mouths just bumped into each other.”
“Oh? Then what does count as a kiss?”
“Don’t play dumb, Qin Chengyu! I refuse to believe you don’t know what kissing is!” Nian Jinsui said, his embarrassment giving way to irritation.
Qin Chengyu chuckled lightly. “Do you know how to kiss, Jinsui?”
“Of course I do! Who doesn’t?” Nian Jinsui blinked and added smugly, “I’ll even share a technique with you. Use your tongue to write the word ‘love’ in the other person’s mouth—it’s simple, clear, and anyone can learn it!”
“Interesting technique,” Qin Chengyu said, his eyes glinting with amusement.
Standing up first, Qin Chengyu extended his hand to Nian Jinsui again. This time, Nian Jinsui obediently took his hand, intending to pull himself up. However, the next second, Qin Chengyu pretended to lose his balance and fell into the snow beside him.
“Hey, I didn’t—” Nian Jinsui started to protest, but immediately realized that Qin Chengyu had done it on purpose to amuse him.
With a small smile in his eyes, Qin Chengyu said, “Jinsui, I’ve fallen one more time than you now.”
Nian Jinsui finally burst out laughing. “If you don’t fall once in a while, all those turtles would’ve been a waste!”
Nodding thoughtfully, Qin Chengyu replied, “Then I guess I should fall a few more times.”
Under Qin Chengyu’s guidance, Nian Jinsui fell countless times but eventually managed to slide down the slope from top to bottom without falling.
Exhausted, he sprawled on the snow. “Watching others ski so effortlessly makes it look easy. I never thought learning it would be this tiring!”
Sitting beside him, Qin Chengyu remarked, “Learning isn’t tiring. Teaching is.”
Hearing this, Nian Jinsui shot him a sharp look.
He knew Qin Chengyu was tired, too. After all, the system had already informed him that the physical strain on Qin Chengyu had added several more points to his damage tally.
It wasn’t like he wanted to drag things out—he just seemed clumsier when standing next to the buffed-up Qin Chengyu. In his original world, he’d been considered smart!
The more Nian Jinsui thought about it, the more wronged he felt. He glared at Qin Chengyu, then hurled a scrunched-up snowball at him.
Just as he started to feel victorious, a light snowball hit him back. Looking down at the broken bits of snow on his coat, his competitive spirit ignited. He quickly sat up and began packing more snowballs.
“Alright, Qin Chengyu! I may not be as good at skiing, but I refuse to lose a snowball fight!”
One after another, Nian Jinsui launched solid snowballs at Qin Chengyu, who didn’t dodge and let them shatter against him. Nian Jinsui laughed gleefully, oblivious to the fact that the snowballs Qin Chengyu threw at him were soft and fluffy.
Meanwhile, Nian Yixin and Lin Shuqian, having finished skiing, arrived at the beginner’s slope to find the two.
“Shuqian, do you see Jinsui and Chengyu?” Nian Yixin asked.
“They’re over there,” Lin Shuqian replied, pointing toward the duo.
Nian Yixin squinted. “Uh… are they here to ski or to have a snowball fight?”
After skiing, soaking in the hot spring was the ultimate reward.
Each suite came with a private hot spring. Naturally, Nian Yixin and Lin Shuqian were enjoying their own two-person retreat.
When Qin Chengyu stepped out into the courtyard, Nian Jinsui was already in the hot spring, leaning back against the edge with his eyes closed. Hearing movement, Nian Jinsui cracked an eye open, his gaze scanning Qin Chengyu’s figure.
“You’re starting to show faint abs. Looks like all that training is paying off,” Nian Jinsui commented with a grin.
“That’s all thanks to you,” Qin Chengyu replied as he wrapped a towel around his lower body and entered the water, sitting not far from Nian Jinsui.
One compliment was enough for Nian Jinsui. Hearing Qin Chengyu’s response, he felt a little bashful. “It’s mostly your effort. But don’t get complacent—no slacking off just because it’s New Year’s. Let’s hit the gym again tomorrow morning!”
“Alright,” Qin Chengyu agreed easily. Then, he asked, “Jinsui, what’s your ideal body type?”
Nian Jinsui pondered for a moment. “We’re not aiming to be bodybuilders. Double-door fridge types are too much. Ideally, a lean but muscular build—defined pecs, abs, and V-lines. Someone who looks slim in clothes but toned without…”
Kind of like how I was in my past life… Ah, I miss that.
Qin Chengyu silently took note of every detail.
